The 455th vAEW is pleased to announce our initial public campaign, Operation Herodotus. In the aftermath of the 1976 Yom Kippur War, Operation Herodotus unfolds on the new and intricate Siani Map in DCS World. Set against the fictional backdrop of a broader worldwide conflict, Operation Herodotus occurs during Large Scale Combat Operations (LCOS) offering unique ROE, material limitations, and scale. A core component of this campaign is player driven wargaming. Actions inside and outside of the cockpit will have a significant impact on the conduct of the campaign. Hopefully, wargaming will broaden horizons and institutional knowledge on the application of Air Power beyond the tactical execution of individual missions. Additionally, this allows us the shift a significant component of the assets, resources, and units to the virtual domain and scale the DCS world missions to an appropriate level in order to maintain good performance.
Later in 2024 we will be bringing you a full briefing document detailing what to expect in this campaign. As news regarding Operation Herodotus comes out, we will be updating this post and bumping this thread. We are seeking units to join us in this campaign to fly a variety of aircraft.
