Roman and I had a chat about the holidays coming up, and we’re rolling with a holiday stand-down until January 5th, 2025. The point here is to chill out a bit - wing-wide activities and admin will be on pause so everyone can focus on surviving real life during the season. There’s enough pressure out there already without adding “queep” to the mix.
This doesn’t mean we’re grounded. If you’ve got the time and want to fly, knock yourself out. Plan and execute as usual. Also, Roman’s tossing around the idea of an end-of-year flight night - low-key, fun vibes. He’ll drop the details if it’s happening.
That’s it for now. Enjoy the holidays, stay safe and see you all in 2025 if not sooner!

2024: What We Did
- 674 hours logged over 412 sorties this year. That’s about the same amount of time it would take to explain SD/TR math to me for the 100th time and have me still not get it. Oh, and it’s also 8,080 loops of I Wish I Had a Gun Just Like the A-10.
- IFF 24-AIW/BIW Track E has been crushing it this year. Final grad dates are TBD in January, but 2024 was all about building blocks and keeping the skies dominated.
- CSAR Joint Op: Teamed up with the 303rd vFG and 476th vFG for a joint CSAR mission. Mission success, more of this please!
- A Few Highlights (and Lowlights):
- One CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain) during training (RIP F-16 91-097—you were too pure for this world).
- A few jets getting MiG killer stars
- Zero combat losses to deployed forces. That’s a win!
What’s Coming in Early 2025
- Town Hall Meeting: Early January, date TBD. No death-by-PowerPoint, just a casual debrief of 2024 and what’s coming up. Bring your bad jokes and questionable suggestions.
- Nellis Homecoming: Time to pack up and head home. Get ready to dust off those maps, smash some formation flying, and kick off the next training cycle the right way.
That’s it for now. Enjoy the holidays, stay safe and see you all in 2025 if not sooner!
