About the 455th Virtual Air Expeditionary Wing

Welcome to the 455th vAEW, a community born out of the shared passion for aviation simulation and a commitment to enhancing team lethality. Established in January 2024, our community brings together a group of dedicated aviation enthusiasts with a singular focus: the realistic and credible employment of simulated Air Power within the immersive world of Digital Combat Simulator.

At the 455th vAEW we prefer and prioritize the serious and structured approach employing real world Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTPs). Our commitment to authentic and realistic aircraft employment is grounded in our standardization and in-depth training program. We recognize that the projection of airpower, even in the simulated realm, is not static. We fully embrace the constant and necessary process of adaptation and future TTP development. In our dynamic community, we understand that the virtual battlefield evolves, presenting new challenges and opportunities.

Our Origins and Expertise

The 455th vAEW was founded by a team of avid aviation enthusiasts whose combined experience spans the realms of simulator, civil, and military aviation, accumulating an impressive total of over 7000 hours of flight time. This diverse cadre serves as the bedrock of our community, ensuring a rich history of knowledge and expertise that enhances the journey for all our members. Drawing from their involvement in esteemed simulation communities such as the 1st Virtual Fighter Wing, 72nd Virtual Fighter Wing, 87th Virtual Fighter Wing, 132nd Virtual Wing, and 476th Virtual Fighter Group, our cadre members bring a wealth of insights and skills to the 455th vAEW. Moreover, for some, their experience extends into both the United States Air Force (USAF) and United States Navy (USN), providing a comprehensive foundation for our community's commitment to realism and excellence.

Our commitment to excellence is evident through our structured approach, extensive documentation, and abundant resources. Expect valuable briefings, engaging flights, and thorough debriefs that solidify the lessons learned.

Our Platforms
At the 455th vAEW we are willing to support the full spectrum of western airpower across various time periods so long as the platforms meet our requirements for function / serviceability, and we have members capable and willing to train and employ the platforms. At this stage we are in the process of building and support or have plans to support the following DCS and community platforms. A-4E, A-10C, F-4E, F-16C/D, F-15E, F/A-18C, HH-60G, C-130J, MC-130, and community T-38A/C. We are also investigating opportunities for other helicopter platforms such as the OH-58, UH-1H, and CH-47. If you have an interest in joining an established squadron or desire to join the development or investigation of such opportunities, please don't hesitate to reach out to us on our discord.
